Frequently Asked Questions

Chiropractors are healthcare professionals who specialize in diagnosing and treating conditions related to the musculoskeletal system. They use a variety of techniques to treat the spine, joints, and muscles to relieve pain and improve mobility. Here are some of the most common questions people have about chiropractors.

What do I wear to my appointment?

Please wear clothes that you are comfortable in and are able to move in.

What should I bring to my appointment?

If you have any relevant doctors or specialist reports, and/or X-Rays or other imaging, please bring them with you to your appointment.

Do you provide treatment for more than just the back/spine?

Yes, we do. Although the back/spine is one of the most common areas of concern, we can also provide treatment for all parts of the body. Some other common concerns that we see are neck pain, headaches, hip pain, shoulder injuries, and nerve issues (e.g. sciatica).

What does a treatment include?

This varies depending on what the concern is. Treatment may include chiropractic adjustments, massage, dry needling, and stretching. You may also be shown exercises or stretches to do at home.

Do adjustments hurt?

Usually adjustments don't hurt. If you are in a lot of pain, adjustments can be uncomfortable, however, we will always check in with you throughout the treatment to make sure you are not in too much discomfort. Please let us know if you have any concerns regarding what the treatment will feel like.

Is chiropractic treatment safe?

Yes, chiropractic treatment is generally considered safe when performed by a licensed and trained chiropractor. Like any medical treatment, there are risks involved, but these are typically minimal. Chiropractors are trained to identify any underlying conditions or risk factors that could make treatment unsafe, and they will discuss these with you before starting treatment.

How long does it take to see results from chiropractic treatment?

The length of time it takes to see results from chiropractic treatment depends on the condition being treated and the individual patient. Some patients may see improvement after just one session, while others may need multiple sessions to achieve the desired results. Your chiropractor will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your specific needs and goals.

How often should I see a chiropractor?

The frequency of chiropractic visits will depend on your individual needs and the severity of your condition. Some patients may only need to see a chiropractor once or twice a year, while others may need more frequent visits. Your chiropractor will work with you to develop a treatment plan that meets your specific needs.

Do I need to get X-Rays?

No, we do not do routine X-Rays. We will never refer you for an X-Ray unless it is deemed necessary by your chiropractor.

Can I bring my children for treatment?

We provide treatment for anyone over the age of 8 years old. We ask that caregivers are present during the treatment of children under 16 years of age.

How do I find a good chiropractor?

When looking for a chiropractor, it's important to do your research. Look for a licensed and trained chiropractor who has experience treating your specific condition. You can also ask for recommendations from friends, family, or your GP.

Do you accept my health fund?

We have HICAPS at our practice so we can provide quick and easy health fund rebates following your treatment. Please bring your health fund card to your appointment if you plan on claiming a rebate.
